Writer and watercolorist Susan Wider shares her parcel of high-mountain desert near Santa Fe, NM with an assortment of hawks, woodpeckers, coyotes, rabbits, snakes, bobcats, and a husband. All these critters find their way into her writing.
Susan’s articles and essays have appeared in Orion, Bird Watcher’s Digest, Kiki Magazine, Tennis View Magazine, Winter Bird Highlights (Cornell Lab of Ornithology), and Lighthouse Digest, among others.
Earlier in her career, Susan worked for the French Chamber of Commerce as an American English instructor and translator/interpreter in Normandy, France. She has also managed fund-raising and public affairs programs for two American scientific research institutes, and for the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum. She holds a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts (French and violin), and master’s degrees in intercultural communication, and in violin performance.
Susan's debut middle-grade biography, IT'S MY WHOLE LIFE, Charlotte Salomon: An Artist in Hiding During World War II, was published in 2022 by Norton Young Readers, an imprint of W. W. Norton & Company.
